Sheikh Abdulaziz Alfaris Mosque
Municipality Award for Architectural and Urban Creativity, 2023
Alfaris Mosque is a contemporary spiritual landmark in Riyadh, designed to unite worship, community, and architectural expression. Set on a 3,880 sqm site, the mosque accommodates more than 1,000 worshippers through its main prayer hall, shaded courtyard, and upper-level prayer space. Two 35-meter minarets frame the entrance and establish a strong civic presence. The central prayer hall is enclosed within a luminous glass cube articulated by folded arched modules inspired by Islamic geometry. A predominantly white palette, controlled transparency, and carefully filtered natural light create a serene atmosphere that reinterprets tradition through a refined contemporary architectural language.
